Choosing a Diaper Size

 Chloe Toes diapers come in seven sizes, from preemie through extra-extra-large, to fit a wide range of children. We generally carry newborn through extra-large sizes in-stock. Other sizes may be custom-ordered. Our diaper patterns include all seven sizes. We do not make diapers in sizes to fit adults.

 To help you select the right size for your baby, we have provided a recommended weight range for each size. These weight ranges are approximate and you will notice that there is some overlap in weight ranges for adjacent sizes. This is because individual children vary in body shape as well as weight. We find that short, chubby babies tend to need a larger size diaper than longer, leaner babies of the same weight. If your child’s weight falls in the overlapping range between sizes, we recommend that you choose the larger size if your child has a chubby build and the smaller size if your child has a lean build.

 You will also notice that the larger sizes cover a broader recommended weight range than the smaller sizes. This is because one or two pounds represent a substantially greater percentage of body weight for smaller babies than for larger ones. Very young babies will outgrow their clothing and diapers more quickly than older babies. It is not unusual for a baby to outgrow newborn sizes within weeks, but to wear medium or large sizes for up to a year. There is also a greater range of variability in body shape of older babies which accounts for the greater overlap in our recommended sizes.

 We have provided rise measurements to further assist you in selecting a size. Please note that the style of our diapers differs from other diapers on the market, so rise lengths may not correspond exactly with other diapers designed to fit the same sized child. Chloe Toes diapers have an "under-belly" cut in the front, which is scooped out to fit below a baby’s rounded tummy. The backside is cut for full coverage of the rear.

 If, upon receiving your order, you discover that the diaper size you purchased does not fit, you may exchange the NEW, unworn, unwashed, unused diaper for a different size (please see our store policies).

 If you are sewing diapers using our patterns, we recommend that you a sew a test diaper to check fit as you begin sewing. Then, when you have determined the best size for your baby, you may proceed with sewing an assortment of diapers. We feel that our patterns adapt well to fit a wide range of babies in all shapes and sizes. However, for the very difficult-to-fit child, we have additional diaper-fitting instructions on our site for altering your diaper pattern to custom-fit your baby.
